birdie these days.

if you've noticed that my blogging has fallen to the wayside, i apologize. i am the mother of one active little lady. from the time she wakes until it’s time for bed—it’s go time.

A few things worth noting about this little bird we call joy.

She’s a hugger. And she’s a kisser. and her constant affection gets me like nothing else in this world. She leans in slowly with this contagious little grin and then gently touches her lips next to yours. She kisses piper on the lips, her stuffed animals on the lips, every animal and character on every page of her books on the lips, and anyone else who wants one. She seriously loves everyone.

She has such determination, and focuses on big girl tasks and will not stop until she’s accomplished them. It’s unreal. She will sit for 10 sometimes 20 minutes trying to figure something out. For a while it was how to put on her pants but it ranges from putting on shoes, putting on a top, fitting puzzle pieces into their proper spots, opening something, unzipping her outfits, the list goes on. She will stop at nothing.

She’s recently started reading books to herself. She sits there and “reads”. I believe she thinks she’s talking but it sounds a bit more like “took-a-took-a-took-a-took-a” and then an occasional daddadda. And then a whole lot of laughter. And then she looks to me like “are you listening to my story?”

She’s loves to take my cell-phone and put it to her ear and in this high-pitched voice says “hi”. I think she’s mocking me. It’s quite hilarious.

she loves wearing beads. every morning she goes immediately to her necklaces and places them one by one around her neck. they typically remain on for the rest of the day.

one of trey and I's favorite things that she does right now is, any time either of us laugh she bursts out into this huge high-pitched laughter. it is HILARIOUS every time. trey says she just has to be in on the joke and in on the convo. i'm going to need to get this on video because it is priceless and i don't want to every forget it! so presh. **** okay, kind of got it on video....

She loves to play the” where is your…” game. And is so proud everytime she gets it right. And when I ask her something that she’s not quite sure of, she, without fail, points to her hair with this questioned look on her face as to say “maybe that’s up here where I can’t see it??” she currently knows, hair (loves her hair), nose, toes, feet, belly button, tummy, mouth, tongue (loves when we ask where her tongue is!), ears, knees, fingers, hands, mommy’s belly button. She loves to randomly pull our house guests shirts up to make sure they all have belly button’s too. It’s proven to be quite awkward in some situations. But, so far, everyone’s got one. ;)

The girl eats. And she’ll eat anything. There’s never been one thing that we’ve put in her mouth that she hasn’t enjoyed. We’ll pray this continues.
She is extremely easy going and actually never gets upset. I can’t
think of anything that makes her cry. I guess she’s just pretty content and happy to be alive. As her father is known for saying “it’s a great day to be alive, isn’t it?!” she seriously follows that motto and enjoys every minute of every day.
She’s the joy-bird. And we love her for all these reasons and one million more!!
